Author V.S Grenier - Whistle Beans - Halo Publishing

                                            FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

St. George, Utah, August 2015 – A family friend shared a secret with VS Grenier when she was little. The secret was how to whistle. However, she only shared it with her children…until now!

Children have a hard time learning to whistle. However, there is a secret and VS Grenier shares it in the latest SugarPaw adventure picture book, “Whistle Beans.” But how can vegetables help and what do they have to do with whistling?

“When I about four or five, Charlie Baker, a family friend, told me that if I ate Whistle Beans, I’d be able to whistle just like him,” said Grenier. “Charlie was like my second dad when I was younger. He taught me how to fish, ride a horse and much more. So it only made since when he shared the secret to a good whistle, it had to be true. Only problem was…Whistle Beans are a part of the vegetable family. I soon got over this little fact and I’ve been able to whistle good and loud ever since.”

Children will get to go on another adventure with SugarPaw and Bonnie Whiskers, two of VS Grenier’s beloved characters from her award-winning picture book, “Babysitting SugarPaw.” This time SugarPaw finds himself in trouble when he lets out Bonnie Whiskers pet parrot Cesar. They end up chasing Cesar all over town and in the process; SugarPaw learns secrets about the vegetable growing in his own backyard.

“I wanted a fun way to teach children not only the importance of eating healthy, but also some unknown facts about vegetables,” said Grenier. “My kids had fun helping me research some of the different veggies in my book. They even gave me different ideas of how to share our family secret about Whistle Beans.”

Through exploring the world of vegetables with SugarPaw and Bonnie Whiskers, children gain a deeper understanding of healthy eating in a fun and silly way. “Whistle Beans” exposes children to an unexpected new way of looking at those leafy greens. While building confidence, critical thinking skills and strong whistles. Of course, SugarPaw will be up to his usually antics and will have kids laughing, too.

“This picture book isn’t only for children. Parents and educators will find in the back of the book Fresh Facts about the different vegetables in the story. Each vegetable plays an important part in helping SugarPaw and Bonnie Whiskers find Cesar, and this section gives information on why that is,” said Halo Publisher Lisa M. Umina.

What's going on in Nashville

Let's talk Music. Please join Marsha on Thursday July 16th at 8PM CST 9 EST for a very special show with Songwriters,Kecia Burcham, Judy and Gil Snider and Brian Tedeschi. It's going to be so much fun and very different.
Kecia is originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and moved to Nashville to pursue music and songwriting. Kecia has performed since the age of 10 in talent shows, pageants, private parties, churches and nightclubs. She writes her original music on her antique upright Wurlitzer piano that she's had since childhood.

Although not a traditional country artist, Kecia has played most all of Nashville's Broadway honky tonks as well as the famous Printer's Alley. She has worked as a demo singer for songwriters such as Johnny Christopher ("Always on My Mind"), and has shared the stage with notable singers such as Lorrie Morgan and Joanne Cash Yates. Kecia plays regularly at most of Nashville's writer venues including the Bluebird Cafe and the Commodore Lounge. She is also a regular at both Nashville and Smoky Mountain Cowboy Church - sometimes giving the message in addition to singing.

Brian is a successful author and screenwriter who was recently invited to NSAI Nashville Song Writer's to play 2 original songs on June 29 at the Bluebird. Along with his wife Vicki they write novels and have written over ten screenplays, several have been optioned.
Gil Snider, MD, a neurologist at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, and his wife Judy suddenly found themselves writing lyrics for country songs. Now one of their songs has been released as a single.  Both Judy and Gil are very successful authors and are on their way to a new career of songwriting.  Billy Rae Stewart has teamed up with Judy & Gil Snider from Va. Beach to create a beautiful ballad, "If I Call A Name At Night"

Sex Sells ! MAGIC MIKE REVIEW - BY MELLISA KEIR

Picture
Three years after the last movie, Mike’s made his dream come true of being a business owner. He has his own custom furniture shop but little else. The dream of a wife and kids is up in smoke. When he gets a mysterious phone call about the death of Dallas, he decides to visit the old gang.

Picture
Magic Mike XXL is a trip down memory lane for Mike who’s buddies are also not really ready to grow up and let go of the lifestyle, the women or the money. So off they go on one last adventure to Myrtle Beach.

Picture
Having spent many a summer (nearly 20) at Myrtle Beach, I must have missed this whole part of town. Jada Pinkett Smith plays Rome-a former flame of Mikes who teaches the boys how to up their game with class. And pay close attention as she is instructing because you might miss Michael Strahan of morning TV and football fame as a sexy stripper. In fact, this movie has some surprising guest roles from Addie McDowell as the rich, southern mom and Elizabeth Banks as the venue coordinator (Isn’t she everywhere these days?)

Picture Not surprising, the boys rock it out and we have a bromance ending- hot chicks, money, and smiles! Really the only way I think to view this movie is with a bunch of your closest friends after a few too many cocktails or on your DVD player so you can watch those moves again and again. For this queen… I’ll take my King with a little more romance and intelligence.
